The dress code at Alice Deal is extremely sexist, and discriminatory towards females. It labels girls as distractions to boys' education and promotes rape culture. In 1791, the first amendment to the U.S. constitution was passed, protecting freedom of speech to ensure that all people could express themselves in any way they wanted to. For some girls, clothing is an outlet that allows for creative freedom. Girls feel objectified, and like they are distractions, which isn't true. By enforcing this dress code, Alice Deal Middle School is being regressive. Also, it is very difficult to keep up. Why should girls spend their time, money, and energy on finding clothes that fit the misogynistic dress code?

The dress code is sexist, but mainly the way they enforce it. I've seen girls get dress coded for no reason and like 5 boys just walk by sagging their ripped jeans, which is against dress code. I've only seen 1 boy dress coded before.

I completely agree. My shoulders showing is not unappropriate or unsafe. my knees showing are not sexy of unsafe. What the dress code is saying to girls is that women are distractions to men. Instead of teaching girls to wear "appropriate" clothing why don't we teach everyone else not to rape and sexualize people.

This school is only enforcing rape culture, whereas girls are blamed for men's actions. As if a girls bra strap could ask for rape let alone cause a kids math grade to drop.

Fathers and Mothers teach your sons to respect girls and woman instead of teaching girls that it is their responsibility to dress so as not to "stimulate boys and men."

Until attending deal, I didn't know features like my knee or shoulder could appear "distracting"for boys. Why should girls be limited to what they wear because of what others think?
