Liberty Utilities wants to buy New York American Water for $608 million.
NYAW purchased Aqua Water in 2012 for $ 71 million which included about 45,000 of the 120,000 NYAW ratepayers. NYAW gouged its ratepayers for hundreds of millions of dollars in profit pursuant to New York State approved rate hikes and surcharges, despite NYAW's persistently under-serving its ratepayers. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Nassau residents receive inexpensive, high-quality public water. Enough is enough!
Our elected officials must end this unfair and inequitable water service dichotomy. All residents are entitled to equal, tax-free public water service.
Tell our state and local representatives to stand up for their constituents, investigate this enormous price tag and use NYAW's petition to sell for an unprecedented profit as an opportunity for the public takeover that we desperately need and deserve.

What is wrong with our water? I travel all over the world and something is not right with the water in Oceanside, NY. If it’s damaging to our skin and hair, what is it doing to our insides?
Our body consists of 60%-80% water depending on age. What right do greedy corporations have to dominate our natural resource essential for our sustenance. Enough! What next contain the rain? Well it's not far fetched that governments are impacting our weather patterns. Aside from the impractical use of excessive plastic water bottles polluting our land, oceans and impacting our health with chemicals. This planet is self sustaining, why do greedy humans [corporations & governments] have to interfere with nature by draining water resources for their own gains. Besides contaminating it as well. Nestles has NO RIGHT TO profit from basic human need.
Enough is enough! The devil we know is bad enough — we don’t need another private/for-profit devil we don’t yet know!
Water, basic to our existence, should not be "owned" by a private company whose priority is profit.

My bill is absolutely insane every month. Why am I paying triple what my cousin pays one town over for the exact same water? This monopoly needs to end now.
