We the undersigned ask that the Government of British Columbia immediately stop the sale of farmland to foreign companies for carbon offset purposes and further that the Provincial Government impose that non residents and foreign controlled corporations may only own up to 20 acres of agriculture land.

We are surrounded by these fields that were once hay fields but are now planted in trees. I wish there was something that could be done to put it back into hay.
This is wrong! Growing crops with traditional organic methods by returning manures to the soil sequesters CO2 to the soil. Tree growers should have to pay carbon credits for destroying farmland not receive them.
Am a rancher in the area and also grow hay. There is no way that foreign investment should be able to come in and take our growing land for this purpose. Land should stay in area residents only.
We need our food producing land more than foreign companies need carbon offsets.. clean up your energy practices and let us grow food.. Make it affordable for BC families to own farms
My family pioneered this area and I do not agree with this. Pay the farms for carbon offset to supplement would be a better solution.
We should keep all our agricultural land.

The selling off of this vital agricultural land is a travesty. It must be stopped immediately and laws must be put in place that foreigners cannot purchase our prime agricultural land for carbon off-sets! The way our province is currently being run there will be nothing left for our grandchildren. Alberta has legislation in place for this.
