This is wrong! Growing crops with traditional organic methods by returning manures to the soil sequesters CO2 to the soil. Tree growers should have to pay carbon credits for destroying farmland not receive them.

Am a rancher in the area and also grow hay. There is no way that foreign investment should be able to come in and take our growing land for this purpose. Land should stay in area residents only.

This whole concept is laughable. The World since 1957 has seen a measurable rise in C02 and that was with a lot more forests than exist today. We have more pollution and the world cannot process it. The Western forest is actually exhausting more C02 into the atmosphere than it purges because of the death of all the pine and those trees are rotting. The eastern borreal forest has been deemed to be carbon neutral. The Oceans are acidifying because they can no longer process the C02 in the amounts that are out there. The answer is not removing farmland but removing the sources of C02 and other greenhouse gases.

This is a travesty, carbon offset my foot, there has been a plan in place for years to plant seedlings where the logging has been done...and selling off this farmland to a people from other countries, we need to use this farm land to raise beef, and vegetables, and support our country with good food instead of importing food with poison. How do we know if they are going to use this land for the purpose they say...be wary I say, I'd be willing to say there is some ulterior motive behind this purchase
Now that the land has been sold, will they do what ever they want ???this is scary, this should have never have been allowed to happen. Who is to say that a few years down the road this land is taken out of the A.L.R. , subdivided and sold for huge profit, and a Mosque or two built, think people this is how they gain a foot hold in other countries, we all need to be looking at the broader spectrum, and good old Canada and their outdated laws are ripe for the picking. STOP THIS PRACTISE BEFORE IT'S TO LATE !!!!
