Trees are important for many many many reasons. We and the people in charge should be actively protecting them and doing everything we can to prevent damage or loss to our trees, removal should never be an option, we have evolved enough by this point to know better. It's ironic that the proposal for removing trees for a cycle lane will be justified as an aid to be a "greener" city - you can't tell me removing trees to be greener makes any sense. Do better. Leave our trees alone.

This road already faces major congestion and isn’t equipped for the amount of cars using it. Building a cycle lane would increase this pressure. I don’t believe Westerhope experiences enough cyclists to warrant a full cycle lane. The £8million rumoured to be the cost of this project could be put to much better use! Such as regular hedge/tree roadside maintenance or improving safety measures around the subways of the A1 (completely unsafe to use especially for women)
