We just do not have enough road space to create cycle lanes that are rarely used and the money would be much better spent on road repairs.

Im a cyclist but I completely disagree with the installation of cycle lanes where it means the removal of trees or green areas in our city. Especially in areas where those trees have been a recognised and enjoyed part of the landscape for many years. Need another plan Newcastle council. Ridiculous plan!!!

Sacrificing trees which have lined the roads through wedterhope and Denton to install cycle lane is environmentally criminal. What and how many will use a dedicated cycle lane- where is the research this is not progress. Save the trees.-

For me, it looks like the path could be widened a bit without cutting the trees down. A bit of polite use of the path would suffice.

There doesn't need any cycle lanes in westerhope village you hardly see people on bicycles and removing all of those beautiful trees which some are really old would be absolutely shocking the village just wouldn't look the same the council should be ashamed of themselves whoever had this idea, they need to think of the people who live there instead of having all these stupid ideas

Trees are impotant to area community and environment I’m sure the cyclists would prefer that the trees aren’t sacrificed I’m sure there must be a way to save these beautiful important trees
