Stop the proposed cycle lane on Stamfordham road

Cycle land would not be beneficial

Too much traffic, there should not be a cycle lane whatsoever

The road is not wide enough to add a cycle lane. The roads around here, that we as motorists pay road tax for, are in need of repair. When cyclists contribute to road tax then consider cycle lanes!

With all the new houses and the stupid bus lanes you added this is madness

We need our trees more than a cycle lane. Westerhope is leafy it’s a beautiful street we don’t need concrete jungle

Waste of money

In 52yrs I’ve not seen many on bicycles on that road, so ripping out trees for a cycle lane is ridiculous, but I’m guessing even with objections the council will still go ahead without listening to the ppl, I’ve signed my name as everyone else will but is there really any point, I don’t believe so !!!!!

Thousands spent between A1 and Gosforth on cycle paths which no one uses, but causes huge queues in traffic because they have narrowed the road to 2 lanes to provide a cycle lane. Spend some money on resurfacing the roads through Westerhope. would be a better .

Westerhope village has always been well maintained, got village of the year by a gardening programme years ago , please do not wreck our village by putting cycle lanes , most cyclists ignore cycle lanes anyway, save our nice village

Traffic is bad enough as it is and we have had 2 years of constant road works and temporary traffic lights. This will cause utter mayhem and like the cycle lanes on Benwell very rarely used

Definitely no need for this cycle lane Absolute waste of money yet again spend the money on something that will make an improvement to the road instead of making it more congested

Too busy as it is

This is an absolute waste of money with impacts to an already strained road, not to mention the unnecessary destruction of mature trees and green area. There are cycle lanes all over Newcastle and I have only, on the very rare occasion seen anyone actually using them. No need for the environmental impact of the works, including the waste and the congestion to local traffic especially at this time of increased cost to fuel (for the works and those being forced to sit in traffic). Relating to the works, this, especially at this time will increase the overall cost. I’m sure this is probably under a grant, but just because you have that, does not mean you have to use it, especially when it will negatively effect those who actually live here

The traffic is bad enough as it is and cycle lanes don’t get used they are pointless for the sake on 2 people who live close enough to work so they can ride a bike for the rest of people who need to drive ruins there life’s

As a result of recent development this road is already very very busy. At times you are forced onto other roads to avoid the congestion. This is a terrible idea. Any impact on traffic will make the situation worse. I’ve lived here for 10 years. In that time over 4000 extra homes have been built and I can’t see any of the promised road improvements making any difference. Please don’t do this.
