There is documented evidence between the link of people’s mental health and social social economic status and the amount of trees in a given area. These trees are there for the mental well-being of everyone lives in this area.

This is not needed in Westerhope and money could be spent better such as repairing potholes! The trees need to remain.

I have lived here all my life — 33 years and counting — and my family has been part of the area for even longer. These mature, established trees have been here for as long as I can remember and are part of our community’s character. They provide shade, shelter, cooling, cleaner air, carbon storage, rainwater absorption and habitat for birds and wildlife. They bring beauty and greenery to a busy road. Removing them for tarmac is a disgrace. Please protect our trees and find a better solution.

Absolutely disgusting, from all the new builds taking away our green spaces, to now taking trees away to allow a cycle lane I taught cycle proficiency for a number of years, there were no cycle lanes and you relied on common sense and knowing the road and where to be while riding, if cyclists could be taught that, we wouldn't need special lanes for them, and teaching them would cost a LOT less, in labour/materials but also saving animals honestly and not to mention the aesthetic the trees give

How many bikes use the road on a daily basis to justify the costs of this? This will also spoil the look of the village.

It's annoying how much wildlife is losing their homes, if it's not to build houses, it's now to put in cycle lanes. Cycling hasn't been an issue in the past so why all of a sudden now?. We have seen squirrels making homes in the trees, bats are known in the area to. Haven't we taken enough wild life homes and branches for birds to rest on. Soon we will have no wild life or trees, just new builds and more tarmac for cycle lanes. Give back our country side and wild life!!!

Minimal bicycle traffic, an expense for tiny minority, disagree with cutting down trees and will worsen car traffic flow

Waste of money. The cyclist’s will still ride on the road. They don’t use the new cycle lane on Stamfordham road coming up the hill to the new Co-Op.

Westerhope does not need a cycle lane. The trees add character to the village as well as some much needed greenery. We have lost at lot of greenery with the new developments at Callerton.

It’s disgusting removing perfectly good trees which make the village look lovely and also help with pollution just for a handful of cyclists- absolutely shocking
