What do they not understand about trees being a life force for the planet. God I hate these ignorant, self servicing people.

Completely pointless exercise. The proven cooling effect of trees for pedestrians and residents as well as screening from the road noise for properties should surely outweigh demand of a separate roadway for a handful of cycle users? Why not just do more to make road users better aware of cyclists? A couple of safety signs or a waiting space near junctions? We h the edge of our town blighted with a useless and disconnected cycle track. It shouldn't be allowed. What has happened to common sense?

No trees should be cut down for a cycle lane. Absolutely disgusting.

We are not bloody Amsterdam! Cyclists like a lot of drivers now, don’t follow the Highway Code and go through red lights etc. what about allocating the budget to fill in potholes and get efficient road marking done. FFS!

The trees are nice and make the area look nice! Wouldn’t get away with felling trees in Gosforth!

It will remove the village feel of westerhope, also we need trees for the atmosphere, they are all beautiful trees!

Trees, wildlife, greenery should never be disrupted! Absolute disgrace that this is even being considered!

Trees are too important to the environment to chop them all down!

We need trees especially with the current position of global warming

Trees have a more positive impact on all residents rather than a cycle path that benefits a few.

Apart from it being sheer vandalism I’ve seen cycle paths made and hardly used!

Traffic through westerhope is a nightmare to start with, since they've built 3 more housing estates. A cycle lane is not necessary through the village. Waste of money and far too much disruption than it's going to be worth.

Theres to much traffic in the village already never mind starting to dig the roads up. How many cyclist do you see in the village it will be a total waste of time. Spend the money on better things like cleaning the steets and cutting the grass more often. Councillors are total muppets

Although I live in fenham I feel strongly that the trees are important to maintain the village of westerhope. Cyclists should not want to have all these trees removed for this.

We need trees and green space more than a cycle lane.

The benefit of the trees far outweighs any benefit from a cycle lane. This is not an environmentally friendly scheme at all and will cause congestion, leading to an increase in vehicle emissions, which are worse when travelling on congested roads. The appearance and attractiveness of the area will be severely diminished. There is little benefit to having a cycle lane, it’s just a fad. More concrete will lead to flooding. The trees help keep the air clean. To destroy them is criminal.
