I don't think cycling should remove trees plus there is no need to have cycle lanes if people know how to use the highway code for UK not Europe

Trees protect the environment, cleaning the air, and provide important habitat for birds, insects, animals and fungi.
It’s time to see a council make the right decision and not continue laying tarmac everywhere.
There are plenty of alternative cycle paths for leisure and better bus services would be more environmentally friendly for work travel

We need to have the trees to counteract the pollution from the busy road. Taking them down would spoil the look of the village which we all take pride in. There isn't a need for a cycle lane and it's not wanted.

This is a busy road and trees help the environment. Why are we killing off nature for cycle lanes, many of which are barely used by cyclists.

Tree are so important reducing harmful emissions from the atmosphere we need more trees not cutting them down for unwanted cycle paths for the few who would benefit

Recently many wildfires occured around Britain, it is absurd to cut down trees after the devastation that has already occured to Britains greenary.

In a time where more and more green areas are being destroyed due to extra housing, the last thing we need is to remove trees and wildlife in order to add a cycle path. A cycle path that many people in the area to not wish to have. Furthermore, the act of removing these trees will disrupt the road that already faces heavy strain due to the amount of cars on it.

Trees are important in our lives and will outlive us.
The council may state they'll plant saplings - which is inexcusable !!
No need for a cycle lane there.

Because we need trees they are the very thing that captures carbon naturally, we do not need more cycle lanes.

There is no reason at all to cut down these trees, they don't obscure the view for cyclists or drivers.
They actually reduce pollution from all of the traffic going through Westerhope village.

Because of the destruction and loss of wildlife and bird habitat. The loss of sound reduction that the trees naturally provide and the loss of asthetic appearance, character and local beauty in the area.

Trees produce vital oxygen for everyone. Cutting them down to benefit a few cyclists who will breathe in more care fumes anyway as no tree filter is madness

The removal of these perfectly healthy trees would be a significant detriment to the environment, would adversely affect many people whilst the creation of a cycle lane would be of benefit to very few.

The council should narrow the width of the road instead - deliberate act of felling any trees will increase air and noise pollution, harming public health and increase the risk of flooding. Lack of joined up thinking.

Waste of time and money, I will be amazing if more than 5 cyclists use it a week - the country is crazy
