Absolutely ridiculous. Council already admit the cycle lanes are a waste of time. They do it for government kick backs. You work for us the local people. Idiots

All it's going to do is cause more congestion and it's a waste of time and money

Westerhope deserves to retain its mature greenery and character. I have rarely seen any new cycle lanes implemented in Newcastle that have been utilised in the intended way - they end up being used by skateboarders instead and attracting anti-social behaviour

It is bizarre to cut down mature trees in order to create a cycle lane.. what sort of eco-friendly solution is that!

We do not need a cycle lane .Have seen very few cyclists in westerhope. Also a waste of money. Would be better spent on the pathways which are in a deplorable state. just remember all the money spent on cycles lanes on Gosforth High Street it caused mayhem

Trees are needed! Should not be pulled out for a few cycles. West Denton way would be a better, less destructive route

Since the construction of new housing this road cannot cope with the traffic.
The addition of a cycle lane to a road which already has a bus lane reducing the traffic flow will make it even busier.

It adds character to our area and for the amount of cyclists which are going to be used in this route, it is not even beneficial in any way if the truth be known stop wasting money

In this location an additional cycleway is unnecessary and a burden on the limited funds available from Council Tax. Trees are so important for the wellbeing of the area and should be protected by default not destroyed.

It’s disgraceful chopping down the trees to make a cycle lane than won’t in all likelihood be used , also this adds to the already congested village traffic .
