No to cycle lane . Residents need parking outside their properties. What about deliveries, workmen or do we just park in cycle lane !!!!!

We definitely don't need it, the road is narrow enough without a cycle lane

Adding a cycle lane through Westerhope village is a crazy proposal. It will be under utilised, will cause chaos during its construction and require the removal of many well established trees. Complete nonsense proposed by the council Where is the analysis that demonstrates its benefits v costs ?

The loss of the beautiful trees for something which is not needed. I am a cyclist and see no need for a cycle lane. Please do not remove our trees.

I’ve lived in the area for over 40years and do not see the reason for a cycle lane here. Will spoil the village feel. Not needed here.

Because I’d rather have the trees and the grass verge

Again another wasteful project that is not needed. Having used this road regular the volume of cyclist I have seen ( none) doesn't warrant it.

I live on the main road through Westerhope and see maybe a half a dozen cyclists on any given day! An absolute waste of money not to mention the butchering of the well established trees along the thoroughfare…..stop this madness!

Utter madness! You could count on one hand how many people cycle along there in a day. And don't say "Well more people would if there was a cycle lane". This council is out of control, they'll destroy old established trees for nothing.

We have a duty to preserve trees not destroy them for a cycle path that will be rarely used. It’s also contrary to the green agenda

Why cut down healthy beautiful trees for a cycle lane that will hardly be used. I think the council are destroying our beautiful area which is getting less of green fields and trees.

We don’t want cycle lists, we’d prefer to have trees!

These schemes need to consider why people aren’t cycling. They’re shopping, working too far away to cycle, the city is too hilly. More cycle lanes don’t fix this

I live in this area and it is absolutely not needed. Also, they’re trying to encourage environmentally friendly transport by cutting down trees. Cyclists already take up as much as possible of the roads & pavements, and can continue to do so on the existing roads. Stop being idiots.

Because the ones on Benwell are hardly ever used, people still ride on pavements. Especially the nutters going around with faces covered on e-bikes.

There are hardly any cyclists that use the road. They use the pavement. Even when there are cycle lanes the bikes still use the pavement. You are planning to waste a huge amount of money to create a few hundred metres of cycle lane. The damage through the removal of the trees will never be replaced. Also, l have not been provided any evidence that the volume of cyclists justify the roadworks, the disruption and the negative change of appearance of the area.

Not only does it make the road look nicer it is better for air quality and the environment in general.

Westerhope is beautiful because of how leafy it is.. the trees need to stay!!! With all the new house being built traffic is bad enough no one wants a cycle lane you need to listen to the people that live here don’t destroy our beautiful Westerhope

Trees are too precious to just chop down, happening too much.
