The greenery through the village us beautiful, we need more trees not less. A cycle label will make no difference as most cyclists do not use them . This should not be allowed!

Is there evidence there’s a demand for a cycle lane or is this a ‘green’ tick box exercise? What’s the ecological benefit of loosing the trees, that can’t be a ‘green’ policy?

Absolute waste of tax payers money, alot more things require attentionn before before a cycle lane. Also to add to the carnage with traffic from the new estates its already hard enough getting through.

The council should be researching the numbers using current cycle paths before doing more-
Huge cost, hardly used and inconveniencing everyone else. Queen Victoria Road is a perfect example of this!!!!!!
And to get rid of beautiful trees that have been here for sooooo long for something that isn’t required is just ridiculous and short-sightedness.

The trees in Westerhope make it feel like a rural village and give the village its own unique character. Removing the trees will make it look like any busy road.
Grey Street in Newcastle has just been planted with trees to encourage wild life and bring a bit of countryside into the City.
Please do not cut the trees down for a cycle lane!

Complete waste of money. How often do you see anyone cycling on Stamfordham Road in Westerhope.

Why should we lose all those lovely trees to put a cycle lane in? It will probably be rarely used and will inevitably lead to more congestion.

I work in the Local Area and think this would be a huge mistake to cut down all those trees to put in a cycle lane.

We need trees for wildlife and climate change. Westerhope looks lovely with the trees. If they were removed, Westerhope would look terrible. We do not need any more cycle lanes. I travel through westerhope all the time and hardly see any cyclists. Trees are far more important especially with climate change. If they were removed, it will not make any sense. The council have no brains.

Killing trees, disruption. Council money should be spent on other things like pot holes and road improvements for people who pay road tax

Spoiling a village under the guise of an installation of cycle lanes, due to the addition of 3000 new houses, do not wreck the look of this village and to remove 40 mature trees. Even though I'm a cyclist I can count on one hand how many times I have seen cyclists on this road in Westerhope village. Please concentrate on making it safe for pedestrians and other road users, against the idiots on non legal e-bikes wearing balaclavas and driving dangerously, pulling wheelies and unsafe overtaking.
