Leave the trees alone, Tony only do we need trees for cleaner air they provide habitats for birds and other wildlife. Spend the money on something that is more appropriate.

Our wildlife habitats are being devastated by green belt building, cycle lanes and their construction cause significant congestion and 90% of cyclists wont use them due to the junction layouts. Absolute waste of taxpayers money

There is no need for a cycle path on this route the road is safe enough. I have cycled this road many times with no issues what so ever.

Trees are important, the council plant plenty and Westerhope doesn't need a cycle lane 😉

The trees add character to the village. We don't urgently need a cycle lane here.

This is disgusting. There is very little use of this busy road system for cyclists and where I appreciate this may encourage, the lack of green space is already visible and this is taking away a community feel. There is no need for a cycle path/route through this area. Cyclists already have right of Highway Code so this gives safe passage providing the motorists keep distance however I can see accidents with dogs and kids if there is a dedicated cycle route which they will simply speed on

Do not cut trees down for cycle lanes that won’t be used
Plant more trees for all that the council has already cut down

When will they realise that an area with trees is so much nicer than having another strip of tarmac! It makes people enjoy living there! We have cycle lanes where I live and the cyclists still ride on the road and ignore the cycle lanes….

It’s not suitable for a cycle lane, accident waiting to happen at the cost of beautiful trees.

Destroying the natural beauty of westerhope for a cycle lane that not many people will use as cyclist traffic is rather low.
The traffic is already very congested this kind of disruption is completely unacceptable

Trees supply oxygen to sustain life. Due to loss of local trees/greenery for bricks and mortar houses we need our trees. Most cycle lanes are very rarely used. Get a grip and keep our planet green

I’ve known Westerhope all my life as a pretty village with lovely trees. Trees are our treasures and should not be destroyed especially for the sake of a cycle lane.
