I strongly apose the decision as this will only cause deterioration of the village and this proposed cycle lane will be a detriment to the asthetic of the village I have lived in my whole life

Born in westerhope in 1995 grew up here my whole life westerhope was always know as a lovely quiet village and with the church in the centre the greenary through the village is what gives it its character. Cycle lanes are great in the city centre but not needed in westerhope village and it will be a waste of tax payers money

Retaining as many trees as possible. We need trees to help us deal with the climate crisis they are beneficial to us all.

It will ruin the look of Stamfordham road through Westerhope Village. The trees are beautiful, they have been there since Ivwasca Children. I have been a resident of Westerhope village for over 33 years. I love the way it looks, please leave the trees alone.

we are losing trees to disease & fire. Our natural habitat is changing and it is a worry that in the future our children and grandchildren will live in a concrete jungle with artificial grass, vanishing wildlife and poorer health. Please save our trees.

Other examples of under utilised cycle lanes for example Gosforth High Street exhibit congested motor traffic causing hazards and virtually no cyclists.

Should be important to everyone

Why would you destroy the greenery in the village ? There are not enough cyclists to warrant this . Just look at what has happened at the RVI barely a cyclist using the route and massive jams because of it

I'm a cyclist, but most cycle routes in Newcastle are poorly planned, disjointed, littered with obstacles and a complete waste of public money. And removing trees, you couldn't make it up. Remember those signs, "You don't have to be mad to work here, but it helps" sums up the council really!

Traffic in this area is already very bad no matter what time of day. I use this road daily and do not see many bikes so do not think this is the most beneficial solution. There is a path either side of the road one could be made a cycle lane of needed and one a pedestrian pathway. If anything the road layout for car users needs to be reviewed

This is an absolute outrage. I’ve yet to see any cyclists use this route. There is a second path behind the small wall - why can’t pedestrians use this route and cyclists use the existing path? Or perhaps the council could adopt the “shared user” philosophy other areas have done. Disgraceful, ill-judged idea from the council. Stop this now.

This is part of the beauty of Westerhope, there is no need for a cycle lane.

Cycle lane is not needed especially when destroying trees..widen the footpath instead without removing trees

I do not want trees cut back to give way for cycle lanes that will put further disruption onto this already heavily congested road, there has been enough trees cut down and wildlife sacrificed with all the hew builds in the area!!
