I live in the village,along the beautiful line of trees,they help extract the pollution from the 24 hour non stop traffic..Replacing mature trees with a few twigs is defeating the Newcastle city council clean air policy..Westerhope & the surrounding area need a new road & not a cycle lane for a handful of people to use.

If there is so much concern about global warming why are the powers that be allowing even more trees to be removed. Also if this cycle lane is as successful As the one airside of the RVI then the traffic in Westerhope will be worse than it is now!!!

We need the trees for the wildlife and environment. If cyclists want their own lanes they should be made to pay towards it. Whitley Bay is a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians now, we dared to cross the road which led onto a cycle path and got abuse from a cyclist for walking on it, obviously expected us to stay on the road.
KEEP STAMFORDHAM ROAD AS IT IS.
