The trees help with air quality. Need water so prevent flooding and a cycle lane will not be used enough to warent the destruction of this trees

We need trees for wildlife. Cycle lane makes no difference as a lot of ppl use the road due to speed limits lower than road limits.

The trees are lovely a bit of greenery without them Westerhope will just be concrete and the cycle lane will not be used just like the one outside the RVI.

Money could be better spent on maintaining roads or addressing the traffic problems through Westerhope. It is ridiculous to chop down good trees just to replace with a tarmac cycle way that will hardly be used. Please listen to what residents want for a change and stop wasting money and destroying green areas.

Cycle lanes not necessary in Westerhope and certainly not at the expense of the established trees that offer nature and without would significantly affect the village feel of Westerhope that has been lost enough with existing developments. Who has the data that shows the number of cyclists each day use this route?

Cycle lanes aren't used properly. They still ride on the roads along our cost even though the cycle lane is up on an extended pavement.

We do not need a cycle lane, the traffic is a nightmare as it is now with all of the extra traffic from the new builds.

Unnecessary in Westerhope

There’s never going to be enough cyclists to justify the lanes. It’s a new road that’s needed to accommodate all the new housing to stop all the traffic going through the village

It’s madness to take down theses trees which are cleaning the air

I would rather the council did not ruin my area and spend the money elsewhere, like on things that actually need to be fixed or changed

All the salient point are made by the petitioner but the removal of trees would seem self defeating when trying to promote greener policies

Can't believe the stupidity of this council. Leave the trees alone. No to a cycle lane. Where are all these cyclists anyway???

I've lived next to westerhope all my life, cyclists are few and far between the cycle lane will be empty 99.9% of the time and absolute waste of council resources and money and an absolute disgrace to remove old trees to make way for this once you start charging cyclists road tax to build the cycle lanes you have no say in the matter we pay our council tax and we have the final say fair enough if cyclists have been killed in road traffic accidents in westerhope but no there has been none.

Waste of money and the disruption it will cause will be massive no one will use it save the trees if council need to use the money fix the pot holes

Already a road you can barely get down. There are minimal cyclists and the disruption it would cause while being created and while in use is massive. The money would be way better spent elsewhere, nobody in the community wants this, it's also just pointless to spend all that money on a cycle lane that leads into major roads - what is the point if we are not doing this around the full city? The use of the lane will stop half way down the road so why even bother, it's been fine without one forevs
