Trees take many years to mature, they help to offset the pollution caused by the ever increasing traffic fumes , they provide beauty & shade & homes for birds & other wildlife . We’ve already lost many trees in Westerhope due to development . Everywhere I’ve seen cycle lanes I find they are very rarely used . Is the council intent on destroying Westerhope Village ? A lot of bad decisions have been made lately don’t make this another one .

Stamfordham Road is already a route to avoid as it already way too busy at anytime of the day .. I’ve no idea of a solution to this is, maybe the Council should have factored this in when they allowed for so many new houses but in my eyes a cycle lane will only add to the problem massively and it will also be chaotic for months on end if agreed to whilst it is installed !!

This Road is a nightmare at the best of times as it is a bus route and traffic is always heavy. A cycle lane is going to cause more problems when it is unessessary as bike riders won't use it as has been proven on other cycle lanes around Newcastle

This is totally unwanted and something forced upon us from people that do not live in the area. This is a huge waste of money which could be spent on a project elsewhere that the residents of Westerhope would appreciate more than a cycle lane that hardly anyone will use. Removing the trees takes away the village feel and look which is what Westerhope is all about, a small community would be wrecked by a ridiculous idea that wouldn't work.

We know that each summer will bring hotter temperatures, we should not be removing trees from areas like this for environmental reasons. These trees have benefits to the environment and should not be sacrificed even for bicycle lanes.

The trees in westerhope give it a much nicer, less urban character. Furthermore, spending a large sum of council funds on a cycle lane, when the roads which are already there are in such disrepair, seems wasteful and frankly pointless!

The village does not need cycle lanes it won stop the real problem which is idiots screaming around on electric bikes also the trees look really nice and enhance the look of the village. Use the money for a useful project instead.
