Councils cannot preach about protecting the environment and then cut down trees to lay tarmac that will only be used by a handful of people.

I've lived here over 50 years and some of the trees have been there as long, they provide habitat for birds/insects and provide a lovely aesthetic for the village. A cycle labe is not needed, rather like the bus lanes that were recently installed, a waste of council funds, there are more important things for it to be spent on. The state of the weeds, side streets etc

I'm 57 years old and I was raised in westerhope. And I remember walking back and forth past these trees how amazing they make the road look as well as how much pollution and water they actually remove

I have lived in the village all my life and there is no need for a cycle path as we have very few cycles going through and what would be only a small section as you join the a major road at the roundabout, it’s a lot of wasted money that the council could spend on other things , so why destroy the trees unnecessarily as the tree lined road gives westerhope it’s unique character

This is a joke cutting down the trees for a cycle lane
It’s not a necessary to do so
And this is not caused any sort of issue they can cycle on the road as they do at the moment

I believe that having existing mature trees in a built up area are more important than the installation of a cycle lane which useage will not in anyway improve the lives of the local people who have to live there. More tarmac in replacement of greenery is going backward in respect of the environment not forward.

Cycle lane is unnecessary and money could be spend better elsewhere. Look at the congestion that the very little used cycle lane has caused at the RVI!!

Cycle lanes are never used. I can’t believe the council want to cut down trees to make a cycle lane. There are minimal cyclists any way. What a waste of our money
