We need trees more than cycle lanes .. the trees through Westerhope are beautiful when out walking should be planting more trees and wild flowers not putting down more concrete… greenery helps peoples mental health and I haven’t seen many cyclists just kids on them electric scooters on paths

The idea of taking out established trees to tarmac over and create a cycle lane for the very few cyclists who may use it is farcical. We are already covering vast areas of green space with new build housing, particularly in the local area. The last thing we should be doing is destroying more green space for no good reason.

We need trees more than a cycle lane. Why spoil this very busy road for the few. Use your budget to plant more trees and fill potholes please.

This is absolutely disgusting this council won’t be happy until there is no greenery left in the city. I regularly cycle and have no problems l, a cycle lane is not necessary.

Creating a cycle lane on an already extremely busy road and removing a row of beautiful mature trees which help to retain the charm of the village feel is a disgrace. It feels like this cycle lane is just a tick box exercise by the council - don’t do it.

These trees provide an established habitat for wildlife, help with drainage, absorb carbon, provide shade and contribute to the character and appearance of our village. New trees cannot immediately replace the environmental benefits of mature ones.
