A mining operation approved by the Municipal Council led by the town Mayor is poised to ruin the health, environment and people’s livelihood in Carmen, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. The Macquarie Mineral Resources in Carmen, Surigao Del Sur would discharge pollutants into the waters of its creeks and rivers and pollute the land they are farming. Residents are worried that this mine will ruin the water supply, create dangerous chemical runoff, spew pollutants into the air, and decrease property values. The people of this town, aware and alarmed by the adverse effects of mining in other loacalities has already expressed their opposition to the said planned mining operation The townpeople therefore demand that The Philippine Government 1. Step in to stop the mining operations of Macquarie Mineral Resources in Carmen, Surigao Del Sur. 2. Revoke the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and support House Bill 4315 or the People's Mining Bill. Please sign this petion and join us in urging the Office of the President of the Philippines and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to stop this mining operations in our town of Carmen, Surigao del sur, Philippines.

STOP THE MINING. Think about the future of our children in Carmen. The environment is already suffering enough as it is.

What about the fishermen? The runoff will kill all the fish and that is everyone's livelihood. Think people.
