We the People,

of Jefferson County, KS, seek reversal and repudiation of the November 10th, 2020 decision to uphold and enforce Executive Order No. 20-52, which mandates mask wearing in public.

We believe this mandate is unconstitutional and contrary to public safety and wellness. We believe this mandate sets a dangerous precedent for further, egregious erosion of personal, property and privacy rights, ushered in via the Trojan horse of “public safety measures.” Our dissent is backed by a vast arsenal of unshirkable data, historical and real-time, as well as thousands of courageous healthcare professionals, spanning a broad spectrum of worldwide expertise. We believe this medical mandate fails to provide informed content and adequate public safety research regarding risks* associated with forced societal normalization of mass masking, in tandem with social distancing, including but not limited to:

  • Mental health crisis exacerbation

o Increased anxiety and depression

o Blockage of facial expressions required for social referencing and social appraisal

  • Periodontal disease
  • Bacterial infections of the skin and lungs
  • Cross-contamination through increased face touching and improper disposal
  • Immune system impairment
  • Direct physiological affects

We believe big government bureaucrats and local officials should not interfere with the right of responsible citizens to make an educated choice regarding personal medical decisions, specifically the use of cloth face masks in public settings. It is unconscionable for public health officials to label the healthy human body a biohazard and we will not stand for any mandate that makes it illegal for a lawfully residing citizen of any age to adequately, meaningfully communicate via facial expressions and breathe unimpeded in his/her community while he/she peaceably assembles and/or participates in buying-selling-trading of local goods and services.
