We the undersigned business owners, employees and patrons of the City of Ocala would like to thank Mayor Kent Guinn for vetoing the Mask Mandate, passed 8/3/20 prior to it's implementation on August 14, 2020.
Whereas:
1. there is no scientific data or clear evidence that the wearing of masks has any affect on any aspect of SARS-2 transmission, contagion or contraction. When searching for statistical data of this nature all reports use terms such as: might, may, possibly, could, should and there is no statistical data supporting such a requirement.
2. wearing a mask is an infringement on one's individual right to choose what to wear to protect one's self from harm or injury. Most all mask wearing requirements state masks should not be worn by children under 2 or those with respiratory ailments, or immune deficiencies as it may cause increased sickness. Tests show a dramatic and unhealthy increase in the inhalation of dangerous carbon dioxide gases when wearing masks and even shields.
3. this mandate is in direct violation of Florida Statute 876.12 - No person or persons over 16 years of age shall, while wearing any mask, hood, or device whereby any portion of the face is so hidden, concealed, or covered as to conceal the identity of the wearer, enter upon, or be or appear upon any lane, walk, alley, street, road, highway or other public way in this state.
4. there is substantial evidence and scientific, statistical data proving the SARS-2 virus is no more lethal than the SARS-1 virus and is genetically 78% the same. And that there were no such draconian measures of safety and violations of one's rights instituted during the SARS-1 virus of 2002-2004.
5. there is medical evidence, statistical data and investigative reporting showing current statistical data with regard to this entire pandemic from deaths to test results is severely flawed.
6. the current writing of the mandate is vague, poorly researched and shows no true intent of protecting the well-being of its citizens. Details of the mandate could not be located on the city website therefore news reports were used. What constitutes a "business"? Are churches exempt? Why are those under the age of 7 exempt? Does the virus not spread while a person is eating? What are the "social distancing" rules? What constitutes an acceptable mask?
7. we do not feel safe and secure around individuals wearing masks or face coverings obscuring their identity, therefore making it very difficult to determine their intent, understand their communication, determine their identity and understand their emotions.

I am not wearing a muzzle
I will not wear the mark...er...mask - PERIOD.
N95 masks: are designed for CONTAMINATED environments. That means when you exhale through N95 the design is that you are exhaling into contamination. The exhale from N95 masks are vented to breathe straight out without filtration. They don’t filter the air on the way out. They don’t need to. Conclusion: if you’re in Target and the guy with Covid has a N95 mask, his covid breath is unfiltered being exhaled into Target (because it was designed for already contaminated environments, it’s not filtering your air on the way out). • Surgical Mask: these masks were designed and approved for STERILE environments. The amount of particles and contaminants in the outside and indoor environments where people are, are CLOGGING these masks very, VERY quickly. The moisture from your breath combined with the clogged mask will render it “useless.” IF you come in contact with Covid and your mask traps it, YOU become a walking virus dispenser. Everytime you put your mask on you are breathing the germs from EVERYWHERE you went. They should be changed or thrown out every “20-30 minutes in a non sterile environment.” • Cloth masks: I can’t even believe I’m having to explain this, but here it goes. Today, three people pointed to their masks as they walked by me entering Lowe’s. They said, “Ya gotta wear your mask, BRO.” I said very clearly, “Those masks don’t work bro, in fact they MAKE you sicker.” They “pshh’d” me. By now hopefully you all know CLOTH masks do not filter anything. You mean the American flag one my aunt made? Yes. The one with sunflowers that looks so cute? Yes. The bandanna, the cut up t-shirt, the scarf ALL of them offer NO FILTERING whatsoever. As you exhale, you are ridding your lungs of contaminants and carbon dioxide. Cloth masks trap this carbon dioxide the best. It actually risks your health, rather than protect it. The moisture caught in these masks can become mildew ridden over night.
