Stop the 8-pump ESSO gas station on Arthur and Elma, a residential neighborhood steps away from homes, playground and the Harbour. Children and gas don't belong together. Let’s tell Esso we DO NOT need or support a gas station in the centre of downtown Thornbury.

The response to this petition confirms that our neighborhood is united in protecting the safety of our children and the integrity of our streets. This momentum demonstrates that commercial convenience should never take precedence over the well-being of the families living in Thornbury.

A third gas station is not needed when there is an Ultra Mar Station 200 yards away. This will increase traffic problems in the area. Several beautiful mature trees already destroyed by the site owner.

Esso why do want to build here knowing you are not welcome? Consider other location options - work with us! One of your ‘values’ is ‘financial strength provides unmatched flexibility’, demonstrate it!

It is so sad that Esso is planning to build a gas station in the middle of our beautiful village. We already have two, and don't need a 3rd, especially so close to private homes. It seems all we have left to us is to boycott. btw there's alreay one Esso 12 minutes East of Thornbury, and another 12 minutes West of Thornbury.

The permanence of a 3rd has station when it or one of the existing go out of business has too many implications. Sure go ahead and open a restaurant. If it fails another business can take over but a gas station will always be a gas station and we just don’t need it.

I do not support this location for such a business. The ONLY place that makes any sense would be further east ( outskirts of town and / or nearer to craigleith/ Blue Mtn village)...on hwy 26- there are several places where it would be better for everyone ( even the business itself) in my opinion.

We (even out Mayor and Council) all know this is definitely the wrong location for a gas station....right downtown, in a residential area, directly beside homes and a couple of blocks from our beautiful public park, waterfront beach, local harbour. PLEASE HELP US STOP ESSO from making a mess of our downtown core!
