As a former student-athlete of one of the teams cut yesterday, I can say I'm not only shocked but disappointed in the athletic department and University for making this decision last possible minute behind closed doors. This is not only unprofessional but it's cowardly behavior and I have absolutely no respect for it. Throughout my tenure at this University, the athletic department and University officials have made countless trips around to the various UB teams to stress taking responsibility, being a team player, taking a stand by and for our fellow students, taking initiative, think before you act, etc. As a department and University, you guys have completely thrown out all of those very values you claim to stand for and represent. As an "up and coming program", not standing by YOUR team is pityful progress toward achieving all of your goals. Whether or not the programs get reinstated, just know that you guys over the last few years have devalued your word and your "brand" to the point it could take many years to bring UB back to its former glory (as well as rebuild the professional reputation of all staff involved in this poorly-planned decision). So keep talking out of your asses because you not only screwed over the athletes and coaches involved, but you screwed yourselves as well by ousting some of the best performing athletes and teams at your school. Also, you can kiss that 3.0 GPA goal goodbye since many of these athletes were the very reason that feat was possible.

Totally unnecessary action by UB due to its own mismanagement. These student-athletes should not be punished for poor administration.

This is a huge deal and one of my best friends is on the men's swim team and it means the world to him and I know I would hate to have my career cut short over something like this. Hope they get their teams back ❤️

Keep the smaller sports around, football will always be around no matter what we do.

Swimming is one of the most absolute competitive sports out there. The community is extremely inclusive and aids in the growth of all people involved. It is one of the few sports that includes both personal and team goals at the same time. It would be a shame to lose such a phenomenal program.

As a member of the EMU women's swim team, and a friend of many of the athletes affected by this situation, I sign this petition in hopes that this can be reconciled. And that those student athletes will receive justice for the deplorable actions of the University. No one, normal student or athlete, should ever have the thing or program that makes them happiest ripped away from them in a moments notice. It's not fair

This will be a true disappointment for the Buffalo area. Losing hardworking student athletes who have dedicated themselves to these programs and to the school itself, is not showing the support this school should be providing to its student athletes.

Couldn't imagine my experience as a Buffalo Bull with half of my swim team. The athletics community without men's swimming, baseball, men's soccer, and women's rowing is unfathomable, and I will truly feel heartbroken for future UB athletes if the department moves forward with these cuts.

This is extremely unfair. Instead of having our mandatory student fee go towards services most students are not aware of, we would much rather fund our sports programs.

My past swimming teammate was going to dive for UB but now he isn't going to be able to anymore and it is truly heartbreaking. He is one of the greatest individuals I' ve ever known and the best diver I have ever seen and worked with.

Please don't tear these teams from UB. The brightest and highest achieving athletes come out of these programs. I've had the privilege of being a student-athlete for this university and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Please reconsider what y'all are doing!

My grandson is starting as a freshman at UB in the fall. He is an outstanding soccer player and was so looking forward to trying out for the team. Now he has lost that opportunity. We are all very disappointed with your decision. Please reconsider.

Go UB! Everyone deserves a right to play the sport they live while representing the college they love!

I was an incoming freshman on the UB men's swim team. This situation is horrible on so many levels. I can personally say that the swim team is devastated and heartbroken. I was very close to other incoming freshmen and current members of the team. I cannot help but feel sad about the friendships that will not have a chance to form.
