Revisit the requirements of the CPL program and membership fee
This is more of a place where ECE's can state their concerns
No one in this petition is against professional development. The CPL is adding extra stress and paperwork when our jobs already have such high burn out rates. We need more support from the College, not more expectations and paper work. With long hours to cover ratios and low wages, it seems really unfair that we pay into something that demands more and more from us to keep our membership and all we get is the promise that they have the power to audit and take away our membership.
No on is against professional development. There aren’t enough hours left in the day and we are forced to give up on something (family time, personal time) which leads to faster burnout rates and low morale.Also what are we to do when we are on mat leave? Although the College is in place to give us more recognition, it also isn’t there to support us in our profession but add hurdles. Some centre's don't have enough supply staff to support time off
The Delays in the membership renewal has become very lengthy and with members being very concerned about what would happen if our membership is not renewed on time. And for new grads who have to wait to work because they are waiting for their membership.
And the membership fee is going up. How come? Is it to help audit members to see the CPL? This is going to discourage people from staying in the field.
