My mother changed her career in her mid 40's to become a school teacher. She loved kids and developing a relationship with many people. Before the standards of common core were introduced, she loved her job. She even considered getting her masters degree in middle school education. After common core was introduced, she found her days to be drastically more stressful and I noticed every day when she came home from work that she was growing unhappy with her job. Long story short, my mother could not handle the stress and pressure that was put on teachers because of these new standards and she decided to retire, ending her short career as a teacher after only nine years. She is currently on multiple blood pressure medicines because of the stress and multiple panic attacks caused by these new "standards" that teachers are forced to follow. I believe that there is too much pressure on our teachers today, which is why there has been an increase in teacher turnover rates. Not only is it tough on the teachers, but the children have much more responsibilities and complications to keep up with, causing them to decrease in their academic success. There are many ways to help our teachers and students, but I believe the first step is simple. Common Core must be done away with sooner rather than later.

My poor daughter cries trying to do homework because she doesn't understand it and she gets even more confused when I try to help because I don't get the mess either! We should be helping our kids do better not making it harder on them!!!

My daughter doesn't understand Algebra in second grade. What the Hell is going on? We need educators to come up with appropriate standards, not people who make money off our children.

I have two kids in the public school system both are in the 2nd grade. both of them loved school last year but this year thanks to common core math an the anxiety that it causes my kids hate school. my son has adhd an a learning disability school has always been a struggle for him but now it's worse than ever an the sad thing about it is that I can't help him with it because I don't understand it myself. my daughter has always made straight As but not anymore she has all Fs this new math has made them both feel as if they are stupid an honestly makes me as the parent feel this way too. who are we to think for this is it our fine Governor in ga or is it our fine president? who ever is to blame should be told to keep politics out of our schools it's not the place for it

My 3rd grader comes home with math problems that are set up to confuse her. The wording is not straight forward as it should be, but tricky as if Common Core wants to get students so frustrated that they want to give up on learning. It's ridiculous! Follow the money and you'll find out why this is taking over the country.

This Common core garbage gives me a headache every day when my teacher announces math time. I'm sick of dealing with Common Core-Engage Ny 4th Grade Math! It is a waste of time and i end up never learning anything at the end of the module! Stop common core now!

It is unacceptable that we are forcing our children and our younger generations to completely change their thinking from an individual one to a structured "One size fits all" way of thinking. Our children are our future and we need to protect and preserve them so that they can become the leaders that we need.
