I have a BBA in Informations Systems and feel helpless with my sons 5th grade homework. I mastered Calculus I, II, III in college but can't explain to my 5th grader why you group and regroup when you can use comon addition, subraction, multiplication or division to solve the problem and then be able to check your work. He has a reading disability so common core is now making his reading disability affect his math skills. He was an A/B student in Math before Common Core now he can barely hold a C average.

This insanity must be stopped! I have a 2nd grader and a son in college, he can't believe what the cc consists of. Teachers are afraid to lose their jobs if they speak up, they are in tears on a daily basis because of this government BS!!

Common Core is causing my child to NOT want to go to school. It is not a NORMAL way of processing information and learning.

No educator should be forced by the government to impose this so-called college prep on our children. I pay taxes and I want OUT of the government imposed Common Core! My taxes, my choice!

Common core has taken the "common" out of commom sense! Math is absoulte NO MATTER which way you get the answer. Every child is a different learner and may not connect with math by using these methods.I have personnaly watched my child struggle with the common core approach to math problems and get so anxious and frustrated over a few problems because it takes twice as long and double the amount of paper used to work out problems. Once a child gets overwhelmed and is constantly discouraged over a subject we need to ask ourselves," Is this really working?" How many kids are going to just give up because they can't seem to quite get the methods required? Common Core is crippling our education system and frocing concerned parents like myself to withdraw my child from the public education system and pursue alternative means of education.
