I had to withdraw my ten year old from public school and put her in homeschooling. She is currently using the Singapore Math curriculum. When she took the placement test she tested on a third grade level. She is used to love math and then started to feel stigmatized because she was having so much trouble with this garbage math.

When a child gets math problems wrong in 2nd grade because they did not use "friendly numbers" but still got the problem right, there is a disconnect between teaching and using common sense!

Common core is setting students up for failure. Many many children had good grades until common core came along. Now my child sits at the table for hours trying to work through her common core math homework. Gives her a headache

I am a math major and feel like I need a math book to be able to help my son so he learns it their way. I teach him MY way and help him understand the answer rather than just the way to do it. Everyone learns differently. If you can't teach to their learning style then the drop out rate will sky rocket. I see a difference in learning style just between my Kindergartner and 2nd grader. oh and they're boy. They don't need anything adding to their struggles. They will know how to do math no matter the situation but don't make it harder!!! No More Standard Testing!!!! No More Common Core!!!

its terrible to try and make a 7 yr. old figure out the answer to a problem 4 different ways...its like 4 different problems to them. the brain of a 7 yr. old is not equipped for this type of thinking yet
