common core is rigorous. a child needs to be met at their level in order to improve. i think that common core is much to difficult and stressful for my child. i want to learn the pros and cons of common core.

my child can do the required work yet still brings home work marked wrong. it was because she didn't draw enough dots. common core has got to go. we'll be home schooling next year if it's not cut out.

I have a 7th grader that is struggling in school because of the Common Core standards. Up until this year he has been an A/B student and now he can't get his head above water. The standards at which the teachers are forced to teach give no consideration that not each student learns the same way. One student may grasp an idea when presented one way while another graps it easier another way. Forcing teachers and students to only use one way is wrong and is taking smart kids and making them seem dumb. I understand and agree that there should be standards so that all students get a quality education but having options is still needed. As long as the children understand and come to the same answer who cares if they do it in 1 step or 20 steps. Not to mention the fact that there are no longer textbooks or ways for parents to help their children to understand. Lets rethink this and set standards that are obtainable and can be adapted for all children.

The omissions, distortions and falsehoods the PC left present in school and university curricula are intended to produce a generation of voters and legislators who will not value the American ideals, values and principles that made America the secure, just and prosperous nation our past generations left to us. It is a false and hateful propaganda effort worthy of the likes of Soviet Communists or Islamic jihadists. We owe the next generation of Americans an education that prepares them for success and teaches them an appreciation for America's greatness.

To me Common Core is nothing short of Marxism. I realize if that is said is gives the supporters ammo as to say we are extremists but the fact is that if this is not stopped our children will not even know the true America we as adults were taught about. This is extremely DANGEROUS and must be stopped at all costs!!

Common Core is NOT benchmarked against ANY International studies or documented, longterm data, it is not RIGOROUS by any means and it WILL NOT prepare our present/future generations for STEM-type educations or degrees. Stated differently: We will never make it to the moon this way and will reduce America's youth to mere cogs in the wheel of corporate profit and government control for Central planning purposes. Despicable.

My child is super smart and I have to sit back and watch her fail Math because while the answer is right she didn't draw a bunch of dots. As someone who has worked her whole life I promise if I pulled out a piece of paper to draw a bunch of dots to figure out how much changes to give someone or how big is needed to cut the Tile for a backsplash I would have been fired. If my child can get the right answer without drawing pictures then that should be all she needs. Are we trying to make a dumber America or are there kick backs for how long these kids stay in school? My brother was Straight A's in math until this crap started and the whole grade failed a subject. When you need a Math class to help with the Math class you have officially screwed something up. My college educated husband doesn't understand why the 3rd grader is failing when her answers are wrong. Fix this. Please. Please quit trying to dumb our kids down and make school so much harder than it has to be. We want our childern to want to get and education not dislike school or drop out first given chance. I will not tell my child she is wrong when she clearly has the right answer. How about the next time you go out to eat the server rounds your ticket up to the next Hundredth? I'm pretty sure that won't work for you either. How about you round that board for your door up to the nearest inch, bet that won't for you either.

Since 1970 student enrollment is up 8%. Duirng the same time teaching staff is up 60%, total staffing is up 84%, and non-teaching staff is up 138%. In the 1950's teachers comprised over 70% of school staff, today they comprise less than 50%. The federal government does nothing well. Get the feds out, get the state out, I want local control.
