We already did that with NLCB. Kids were passing those tests without being able to read.

Hi Wendy.
I teach in California. Who told you it was your job to teach your children? That is our job. Parents who work or run a home should not be getting another task. Homework is independent practice; if they can't get 75% correct by themselves, they should not be getting it. Ask your child's teacher about the homework she is sending home. It's great if you want to expand your kids' knowledge and there are ways to do that.

Please stop the kindergarten nonsense! Listen to child psychologists, not politicians! Look at other countries who are doing better than we are! This system is hurting our children.

My friends children hate kindergarten. My son hated kindergarten. No 5 year old should be put through what they put these boys through! It is developmentally unacceptable to expect children to sit, no play centers, no naps, write write write math math math. Bring back old school 5k kindergarten with play centers!! TAKE A HINT FROM OTHER COUNTRIES!! If Common Core were really about making our kids smarter and competing on a global level you'd think we would model ourselves after the countries that are kicking our butts. Most of the ones that are ahead of us do implement play throughout the day and not just for recess time until 7 years old! Stop hurting the children and start listening to child psychologists!! Politicians do not know child developmental psychology!
