Stop the city of edmonton from using "new salt brine" on winter roads

Working on vehicles as a mechanic when they are covered in this coating causes a rash severely dry skin when you get it on you.

Keep this junk off our roads ,if people think it won't cause any issues for maybe a few years that's not true it will make your cars start rusting in one season. This junk will make your car rust ,eat the paint and get into your wiring and destroy that also. The money the city will be saving on this junk they will end up paying 10x more to replace the city vehicles that rust out in 3-4 years .

Please reconsider the use of Calcium Chloride on the city streets. The roads are not drying up as they should and fresh snow is creating hazardous conditions for motorists. We shouldn’t need to wash our vehicles below -15 C as the road should be dry.

We already pay a lot in taxes, now we have to pay more to fix our cars and have them rust out or replace them in a few years

Please reconsider what this will do to all city vehicle's, busses, cops cars, fir trucks, ambulances

If it ain't broke don't fix it, we've done just fine with the dirt mix used.

I spend a lot of time and money to keep my cars in good condition. I don't want this salt brine to cause any extra rust and corrosion that would cost a lot more money to repair.

I'd rather have the snow!

This is totally not environment friendly or people freindly!! Why carbon tax then if edmonton decide to cause more damage and waste?

Our winters are bad enough as it is. Ive been working in the auto industry for most of my life and there is a reason i do not buy vehicles from Ontario or Eastern Canada. They use this same salt on their roads there, and every vehicle i have ever come across from eastern Canada is literally a bucket of rust. There are other methods that can be used to ensure our roads remain safe and clean, pouring materials that will literally eat away at not only metal components, but also wiring harnesses and brake lines is not the best method in my opinion.

Paint chips can be repaired when using the existing “sand” but good luck getting rid of rust when it starts. Good one Edmonton...

Not a good idea this blows big time.

We love our cars...please don't let our car rust like the easrcoast!

As a former detailer and a current mechanic, it can be very costly to keep a vehicle in good shape as is. This would only increase the mechanical costs and detailing costs for anyone that cares about their vehicle.

Unless the City of Edmonton is going to provide free vehicle washes and rust repair/remediation and environmental protection, let's rethink this one!

Being a mechanic, I like not having to take a torch to every bolt to do any mechanical/suspension work on a vehicle. Let the 'Easter bunnies'(eastern vehicles) keep their name.
