Stop the city of edmonton from using "new salt brine" on winter roads

Owning and operating a vehicle is expensive enough without having to worry about additional maintenance from corrosion that is completely avoidable.

Bad stuff. Very bad stuff.

Yet another pollutant we have to contend with...just keep it simple people.

Take a look at cars out east and compare their lifespan with our cars here in the west. You'll find rusted out cars here that are appropriately around the 10 year mark while the cars out east are brand new models that do not reach 5 years before being an undercoat job or s butt load of auto body work.

Tired of our government trying to screw us over. Better be willing to pay millions in paintwork. I'm not footing the bill for city stupidity

Moved here from Ontario and was glad to get away from this. Very upsetting to hear brine is going to be used here this coming winter.

Salting only works when you don't have -40 degree nights that turn the wet sludge into skating rink freeways.

Dont be fools and spray our roads. I paid thousands for my car and want it to last. I buy winter tires. We dont need salt its a waste of money.

The "corrosion expert" is a salesman for anti-corrosion products. For only $129 per year, we'll tret the underside of your car with magic snake oil!" Might as well ask a hairdresser if you need a haircut. Good investigative reporting, CBC.

This stuff is too hard on vehicles.

Please do not proceed with the new suggested. The rust is a major issue. I don't support this at all.

As a maritimer i have witnessed first hand the levels of damage salt does to everything. It destroys roads, everything concrete, cars, rivers and lakes, clothes, basically everything it touches. We cannot afford the damage to our infrastructure by using salt.

This is a terrible idea. Car out east get destroyed with salt and it comprises the safety of the vehicle.

Use some of that photo radar tax to do things better. Sand was fine, rust is not.

I put all of my money and effort into my cars. I don't your new salt rusting the underside of them!

No salt at all just use sand..
