The Government of India wants to ban Surrogacy for foreign couples.
Surrogacy in India is currently legal and thousands of foreign couples have travelled to India in a last ditched attempt have a family of their own.
Surrogacy is often portrayed as 'Rich foreigners exploiting the poor women of India' This cannot be further from the truth.
To act as a surrogate has given many of India's poor women the chance of a better life for themselves and their families. It empowers them and offers a chance to escape the torturous poverty cycle. They choose to act as surrogates of their own free will and need the support of their own families to do so.
The 'foreigners' seeking surrogacy services are ordinary couples who have most likely endured a fruitless fertility quest for years. Surrogacy in India offers a more affordable and often final chance of fulfilling their elusive dream. Most will have to make huge personal and financial sacrifices to embark on this journey.
If there are faults with the system, it needs to addressed by thoroughly regulating the fertility clinics offering surrogacy services. It is essential that all are operating to good medical and ethical standards to protect both surrogates and intended parents. Banning surrogacy in India is not the answer, it will simply drive the practice underground. If this Bill is passed, foreign couples will search for surrogacy services in an alternative countries, depriving the poor women of India who would choose to act as surrogates the chance of a better life.

Please don't take away the rights of women to use their own resources to make a better life for themselves and their families. Surrogacy is empowerment, not exploitation. It should, however be more regulated to ensure all concerned are cared for properly.
Any foreigner can visit India, go to Kamathipura, or Sona Gachhi or G.B.Rd. and exploit Indian women, no BAN on it! But a couple who could not conceive , there would be a BAN on their seeking surrogacy under medical supervision!!!! What a fair policy?
It is not two side happiness but multiple happiness people who involve in this surrogacy program like clinic employee, hotel ,auto driver, local shopkeepers etc they depend on this program government should make rules but should not ban surrogacy
Blessed with twins via Surrogacy in Anand, India. My surrogate is so happy and the money has improved her life and secured a better future for her kids. The ban cannot go ahead as this is a lifeline for couples like us who have tried everything else.
Please stop this ban. My daughter has just recently been born as a result of a surrogate in India . This will stop me have any siblings for my daughter and no future to grow my family . I was very lucky enough to have my daughter in our 1 st attempt .

Surrogacy is Gokh Daan. We donate blood, we ask people to donate organs. Then giving an infertile couple the gift of parenthood through surrogacy is a daan. Let everyone - Indians , foreigners, everyone benefit from the service. Make the laws so everyone is protected and life can thrive.

Help us to have our babies.I'm a married woman,but unfortunately, I was born without an uterus.Please, give me and my husband a chance to be a "mother" and a "father".You are our only chance to be a real family ...With love and hope to hear from you soon....
