Dear Fanindra Raj Kharel (Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation),
We the undersigned have some core concerns regarding the recent proposal to amend the 'Working Policy on Wild Animal Faming, Breeding and Research' portion of the National Park and Wildlife Act. While there is merit in the concept, of increasing job opportunities and the income of rural households. There are some fundamental issues that we believe should be considered before the finial decision is made, including:
- Its is vital to consider excluding critically endangered, endangered and threatened species from the list.
- The trade in animals and their parts must not be included as this will allow for wildlife crime to continue and increase in some of Nepal's most vulnerable species
- The current policy has little to no regulations or even an attached regulatory body, this may have considerable implications if critically endangered, endangered and threatened species remain on the list of approved species.

We should be changing laws to be kind to the environment, not the reverse. Furthermore, any crime against red pandas is a crime against the whole world. Please do not pass this law.
As an environmental science student, I understand the devastation this policy will create. If current practices cannot be monitored well enough, there is no way this idealistic policy can be kept under control.
This is madness. This would make wildlife crimes legal and puts many endangered species at risk. To me this looks like a desperate attempt to help people in need at the cost of their flora and fauna. This is not the right way to do it!
Nepal is the most beautiful, culture-rich, and spiritual place I have ever been.. Please don't follow the lead of western nations with naive actions and questionable policies...
No, not necessarily. Nepal is very poor, and the earthquakes and pressure from India and Nepal have put them in an impossible position. In any case. Placing blame is not what is needed. Collaborative discussions and empathy is.

As a regular traveller to Nepal, and also someone who's career and passion is animals, it is utterly important to me and to your country that the government of Nepal NOT allow the free poaching and trade of wildlife. Many of the animals who would be worst affected are threatened or endangered species which people like me travel to Nepal to see. If you allow the poaching and trade of wildlife, soon there will be no animals left. Species will go extinct and tourism will be negatively affected. Please don't change the laws protecting the precious animals of your country.
