We must start to do a better job, for the young adolescent in our community. And Ice Rink is not what the City of Bowie needs now.

The community has not asked for this expensive facility that will be visited and enjoyed mostly by people from other communities. It is insensitive at this time when the disparity in healthcare in our community is obvious to everyone. This is the time to consider spending more money on hospitals and healthcare facilities, not ice skating. We can barely get funding to build or expand local hospitals, and yet some people think this is good idea? At a time when we are seeing a disproportional number of our neighbors victimized by COVID-19, the idea of spending millions for ice skating for a few is ridiculous.

This is not the time to consider such an expensive investment, when tax revenues will probably decrease dramatically, due the pandemic. If an investment is to be made on Church Road, expanding the road for more traffic should be considered. As it stands now, the traffic burden on the surrounding community will be too great with this type of development.

There are other family centered venues that would be worth our tax dollars. This not worth our tax dollars

Not that hockey isn’t a respected sport, It’s just not a sports activity that the African Community has embraced, therefore spending $28 million in a predominantly black county on a sport that probably has a 1% ratio of African American youth participation is not justifiable. Why not look at the sports that have the most participation and up-grade the athletic facilities that support those mostly participated sports. County Tax payer dollars should follow where the majority of youth participation is the greatest. Let’s allow the voice of the youth in Bowie be heard. And their actions prove that Hockey is not the majority sport of youth interest and participation in the Modern Day and time of the 2020 Bowie!

i strongly oppose the Bowie ice arena. City funds can be best spent on another project or city service.

Please, slow down this is not the time to make a $26M investment on the thing that is not of any significant important to the community and cause monumental traffic problem plus some other unforeseen issues that will come with it. Please let us purse and think about the COVID-19 and the people that we lost, and financial responsibility, job lost and the recovery. Please put a break on any capital project for now.

Bowie budget overextended due to pandemic expenditures. Do not spend $28 million on an arena and make deficit greater.

With an uncertain financial future and a federal government suggesting that states file for bankruptcy, now is not the time to build a facility for the sole purpose of encouraging people who dont live in our community to move here.

As a resident in Fairwood, I've spoke with neighbors and attended meetings at the Bowie Town Hall. It is clear that the majority of the surrounding community would prefer that an Ice Rink not be built on church road.
Let's invest in making church road safer for the youth and adding public transportation.

All projects of this nature should be halted until we’re out of the pandemic and we have analyzed the country’s financial health
