im still talking to neighbors every day and its clear how worried everyone is about the impact this school will have on our streets. we are prepping for the zoning board meeting because we need to make sure our concerns about the site get on the official record.

this is gaining so much momentum and honestly it feels like the neighborhood is finally waking up to what is happening. its pretty clear that people dont want this here and seeing how many of you stepped up is just amazing.

Hi Kim -- agree that change isn't always bad and agree that the school may produce some intellectual students. However, while the school cites 65-85 students, they also acknowledge that they would like it to grow to 200+. 65 is doable for the street (kind of) -- 200 is not.
So anyone can build a school at any time? And there's no curriculum, no tests, no accountability, no diplomas? And they collect $10,000 annually per child and get to be a non-profit and don't have to pay taxes? Heck, why don't we all just build schools then! This "school" is a joke -- how you are required to send you kid to school and this passes as a "school" is beyond me.
Morning and afternoon traffic will be ridiculous. The fact that their is a school across he street is not justification, as that is a residential seminary that does not have children being dropped off and picked up. I am sure it is a nice school that can afford to purchase such a nice piece of property, but this should never have been allowed to happen. For all the people who walk this neighborhood to get to the park, the additional traffic will put lives at risk! There are plenty of old schools that are closed down that could have been utilized.
It is disappointing that a possible school of 80+ kids can try and locate into a residential area without appropriate conversation between our local government and residents. The street & road infrastructure at the entrance to this property is not set up to handle additional morning and evening traffic for pickup and delivery. Where are people going to park? Furthermore the additional loop traffic of walkers and bikers will be at significant risk to this increased traffic flow.
It would be unsafe to add school traffic in addition to the bikers, walkers, buses, police cars and personal cars that utilize Alta Vista on a daily basis. The school would be located right on a blind curve that is already dangerous with the present traffic.
The construction of the school does not belong in a residential area. There is already enough traffic due to residents living amongst the area and others facilitating the use of Cherokee park. You could be risking the lives of children by placing a school in such an area. Also, the concept of the school is illogical. No college will deem this school as creditable.
I am totally opposed to the location & the absurd concept.

I am vehemently against using this residential property for a school of any kind. The street won't support the heavy traffic. It is a busline and a thoroughfare for the Highlands neighbors to get to Lexington Road and I64. The police and fire dept. also use this road for the previously mentioned reasons. A commercial property would be a better location for this school.
