The proposed cuts to Souris Hospital are officially off the table. I am deeply tired but relieved that we managed to force this outcome. We have to keep our eyes on the hospital to ensure these services stay protected.

Final supporters
We need to maintain and strengthen the services we have at Souris Hospital; not take away. The proposed changes by Health PEI to our hospital will provide less care to our residents and will be a detriment to patients needing medical attention. Souris Hospital as a functioning community hospital is vital to the life of the people and community of North East PEI. Souris Hospital is an essential community and rural infrastructure that supports business and industry. Local doctors and organizations have stated the hospital needs to remain a fully functioning health care facility to provide required ancillary support to all health care providers. Recently announced changes to reduce acute beds, nursing staff and the lab will result in an inability to function as a community hospital.- this makes no sense economically or medically.
We urge government to only make changes that reinforces the Souris Hospital role as a fully functioning community hospital. The North East Community Alliance is in strong support of the Island Wide Hospital Access (IWHA) Committee and has created this petition on their behalf. If you support maintaining and strengthening the role of the Souris Hospital, please sign this petition and spread the word.

The momentum we have built confirms that this community will not be ignored by those making decisions behind closed doors. My exhaustion is being replaced by a stubborn resolve because I know we are demanding what is only fair.

Living this far out we rely on Souris. Please dont cut the staff we need them here.
If they close the lab and beds it wont be a hospital anymore it will just be a building. keep it open for us.
Makes absolutely no sense. Health PEI needs to listen to the doctors for once.
My kids were born there. We need this hospital open for our town. Don't take it away from us.
STOP THE CUTS. The people in the east deserve the same medical care as everyone else.

This is rediculous. You guys are going to kill people by making them drive all the way to town for emergencies. Leave it alone.
