The City of Sedona has engaged in the practice of funding the regional Sedona Chamber without the voice or vote of businesses and residents. Sedona Area Communities have NO Transient Bed District and NO Tourism District.

The City of Sedona is using public funding, taxes imposed on in-city to enrich themselves and third party non-city businesses. Once the regional Sedona Chamber receives Taxpayer's money there is no transparency. The Sedona Chamber is a Membership - Corporation, a business association. They are NOT inclusive to city limits.

Public funding is being used to enrich the city government, Sedona Chamber organization and third parties entities to compete with those whom the taxes are imposed on. This is disenfranchising the residents and businesses within the city limits. Stealing civil rights away. No Accountability, No Transparency, with the Sedona Chamber getting unfair favors and favoritism being the only voice at city hall.

Please STOP all Arizona governments from using public funding to build their armies and special interest groups. Create laws to prohibit such practices. Stop third party entities from being enriched. Please level the playing field for Arizona residents. Enforce State control over cities, counties and towns. Limit and control public funding and prohibit this practice.

Updates

June 23, 2020

The feedback I am hearing from local business owners confirms exactly what I feared about how our tax dollars are being funneled away. I am currently gathering more documentation to push for a formal audit of these payments because this lack of transparency cannot continue.

June 23, 2020

Seeing this momentum grow confirms that I am not the only resident tired of watching our tax dollars disappear into a private corporation. This confirms that people are finally ready to demand transparency and real accountability from our local government.

End this egregious waste of money. The Chamber should have it's members pay for advertising, not the residents of Sedona.

Sedona's beautiful nature and infrastructure can no longer handle additional advertising from the Chamber for tourism. The joke is that the City and Chamber talk about sustainable tourism and to reduce gas emissions. What better way than to DEFUND the Chamber. Problem solved for both issues!

Advertising is killing our environment. I have been picking up trash from all the visitors that have been drawn here, crowding our roads and polluting our waters. I have had a business here for almost 30 years. This has gone to far. Stop the greed, save the environment!!

NO monies should be given to thr Chamber to promote Sedonda. The Sedona City Council, in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, are intent on the continuous decimation of the quality of life for Sedona residents by over promoting tourism. Traffic is at a gridlock every weekend and during peak times of the year. This city is bursting at the seams with tourists and can't sustain any more.

If the city council that voted to approve this ongoing contract with a regional member-driven chamber of commerce had at least obtained competitive bids, quite possibly a great deal of controversy would not have occurred in incorporated Sedona. Of course, the process is in motion and only a higher power can really make changes. Coronoavirus? An example? No, city council and chamber of commerce. You may call the shots now but does it mean you are in control and ultimately will have the final say?

The Chamber has spent millions to promote tourism and lined their pockets with profit, backed by the city councils over the years. To the utter detriment of the local citizens. This current council needs to be replaced. Defund the Chamber Of Commerce.
