LISTEN TO LUBBOCK: Petition to Increase Accountability and Transparency so Lubbock Citizens Can Take Back Their Power
We, the people of Lubbock, insist that the Lubbock City Council STOP government overreach by taking the following actions:
1. Prioritize spending on essential city-wide services and maintenance to benefit ALL taxpayers.
2. Stop funding special interest groups and projects.
3. Stop increasing and phase out unfair hidden taxes on utility bills.
4. Stop adding debt without public discussion and/or voter approval.
NOTE: This is an informal petition sponsored by South Plains Advocates for Freedom.
Any online petition is to show how many citizens are concerned. We may seek an official charter change or petition the council officially at a later date! We want to sendthe city councila message quickly through this particular petition.

I really did not think this would gain this much steam so quickly but here we are and it just proves that people are tired of the way things are going behind closed doors. Seeing this many people agree on basic accountability is honestly surreal and I am still trying to process how we go from here to actually sitting down with the council.

We are absolutely a house of cards at present. No one on the city council seems to realize that putting the city more into debt is weakening our city. Water is the increasing nightmare for our city, but we have just been turning our heads to the real issues we should be addressing.
As a Lubbock citizen I want the tax payers money be spent responsibily. I feel our leaders are letting the citizens down when it comes to spending our money.
So far, it appears that the City Council has ignored the suggestions made here. It will take a lot of public pressure to get them to take the suggestions made here.
THey should be sent home
Double standards are the signs of a dictatorship. The government gave itself the freedom to proclaim its words, but uses armed personnel to deny the same right to the people. The law they impose upon us, MUST also be imposed upon them, if liberty is to be more than an empty political slogan.
Remember for whom you work! Hint, it is not the one you see in the Mirror.
