STOP the proposed changes to Kindergarten & EFI at OCDSB

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! The children would not benefit from the change!! JK is important and needs to be done in English!!

Why fix what is not broken! Watering down French NOT an Immersion program anymore.

Please make it about the children's needs! They are important!

Please make this about the children's needs and not about budget and teaching resources. Please vote 'no' and preserve our French Immersion program.

Please don't vote to add immersion to jk either. Our youngest, most vulnerable learners need a strong foundation in their first or second language as well as how to learn, before being immersed in another language. Full immersion with a Grade 1 entry point, and 60 minutes of French language per day in jk and sk is suggested.

My children have benefited greatly from participating in a full French immersion program. The proposed changes will significantly reduce the benefits of the program for all students.

Please do not ruin an already excellent french immersion program.

Learning a language is not a difficulty but an opportunity. Of course, it requires working hard but it worth it. We are not talking about taking jobs away, by keeping the same amount of minutes. in French. This is a sophism.

Please keep our immersion programs as they are!

It seems to me that the real reason for this change is to make staffing more efficient, not to benefit students. I say either offer a great quality EFI program, or cancel it and invest in MFI.

A just men's are hard enough for jks in a first language or even a 2nd or 3rd for many children. In a new language will just add more difficulties. Also there is already a struggle to have qualified french OTs, why would you take more English jobs away from teachers when there are many excellent English language teachers waiting for a job!

Less than 50% French instruction in grades 1-8 does not qualify as an immersion program. Would consider French public as the option.

This program can no longer truly be considered "immersion" if these changes are made.

You are totally going against what immersion stands for. Being immersed for only a few short years was better than not at all. Learning a language needs time, commitment and practice. You are reducing all this by the changes you are planning to make. It was already a very short period of time. It is really sad if it goes through.

I don't see how this watered down version will be acceptable to anyone???

This is an awful idea! I teach SK EFI and I would leave teaching this grade should you make It jk/sk splits in French!

No to watering down French in one of the only places many students have to learn and practice.
