Children are immersed in English every single day, school is the only place where learning AND practicing French is actually possible!

This new program would not provide an IMMERSION program. This would not be beneficial in our nation's capital.

The Immersion program OCDSB is offering right now is a quality one. When we receive students from other boards we can easily and immediately see the difference in the quality of their French. Why do we have to change a win-win situation for both students and teachers? C'est un "pensez-y bien!"

If I wanted my child to have over a third of the day in English, I would put my child in an English program. French immersion allows kids to be bilingual in a mostly Anglophone city. Watering down French immersion would persuade me to apply to the Francophone board for my children.

Research proves that the OCDSB currently has a strong FI model. Any changes made should have our children's learning at the forefront. I can't see how these changes do.

Please don't sacrifice quality education in order to save money. These changes will have a negative impact on our youngest and most vulnerable learners.

Don't cut the hours of French instruction for ottawa's young children. The ocdsb is rushing this through without adequately informing & consulting with parents. This proposal will negatively affect the French proficiency outcomes of these students. I support adding French in JK but do not support proposed changes for grades 1 to 3.

Second language acquisition researches are supporting the program we are offering right now. Ocdsb should be proud and should maintain the high quality of the present EFI program. We, immersion teachers, see the difference when a child transfer from a different board offering less time in French.

I am a "pioneer" of French Immersion having begun my teaching career in the early seventies and I totally believe in its effectiveness. It is a program that works and it would be irresponsible to deprive the children of Canada's capital of this wonderful opportunity. Please keep the high quality of education in French Immersion at the OCDSB!

There are no reasons to make such drastic changes to à successful program. These proposed changes will erode the program and are to the detriment of students and teachers as well.
