Trustees need to share evidence if there are problems with the current program, I can't see any and there has been no evidence provided. More French, not less or it's not Immersion!

Early immersion is the only reason why I speak French now and as a result why I have access to many more employment and academic opportunities around the world.
Our children should not be deprived of access to their best chance at becoming bilingual.

Let's see the JUSTIFICATION! Research suggests that early total immersion has a better impact on first language skills than early partial immersion!

It is ridiculous to take a program that has worked and take it backwards. There is no benefit to the proposed idea. Compromise,,,,, so that the children do not suffer in any way.

If the French Immersion was partial my children would have been at another school board. All parents I have spoken to share my thoughts.

I feel like there is a compromise position to be discussed here. Don't like watering down french in older grades, but support introduction of more french earlier. I also support math being in english for many reasons, including the fact the current math curriculum has a lot of focus on reading skills and general global use of english with math/sciences. But the reduction of french proposed is not in the spirit of a french immersion program. i hope this is an opportunity for discussion and not just notification of a decision made. Is there any evidence that you can share that has informed this decision?

These changes will result in larger class sizes for kindergarten children and a watered down immersion program. Vote no OCDSB trustees please.

Studies and practical experience show that our French Immersion program is the best, and acts as a model for other boards around the province and across the country. Why change something that works?

The foundational purpose of Early French Immersion is to IMMERSE the students in French as a new language, not just dip their toes in the shallow end. Studies show it IS effective and any lag in English as their first language catches up by the junior grades. The opportunities that open up by knowing our nation's TWO official languages are endless - let's not compromise that!

Almost impossible to get a job if not bilingual in Ottawa or New Brunswick ( NB is Canada's only official bilingual province). Children are at a disadvantage if not speaking both languages. Children who get a French immersion program will have job advantages over those who don't.

Both my boys benefit greatly from full immersion. It would be a great detriment to their future bilingualism if it was stopped. Their future is brighter in this country because of the opportunity of being fully bilingual. Dont take that away.

Our daughter, who is now a parent, attended a Partial French Immersion Program in elementary school. From that experience I can tell you that it does not work. Students need early full immersion to become fully bilingual. Pleas do the right thing and not the expedient thing. Vote NO on Nov. 24, 2015 to Report 15-108.
