THEY FINALLY LISTENED AND THE LAW PROGRAMME IS OFFICIALLY SAFE!! WE FLIPPED THE DECISION BECAUSE WE REFUSED TO BACK DOWN!! STAY VIGILANT BUT CELEBRATE THIS MASSIVE VICTORY TODAY!!
Following the Canterbury Earthquakes of 2010/11, the University of Canterbury was affected, as was the rest of the region, in a negative way. Student numbers have dropped, buildings have been damaged, and morale is low. The way forward, however, is not to attack and effectively disestablish the Bachelor of Laws at the University of Canterbury, as the University seems hell bent on doing. We need to protect our future, and our Law Programme at Canterbury.
Signing this petition shows that you are against:
The Law Library being disestablished.
Consultation with students regarding changes to the LLB being completely disregarded.
Hard-working Law Staff being turfed from their building.
Any changes to the programme that effect the integrity of the degree.
Keep the library open! How are we supposed to study without these resources?? Absolute joke.

UC needs to stop cutting corners. You are ruining the reputation of a perfectly good degree.

Consultation process was a sham. They already decided what to do before they even asked us.

My daughter is currently studying there and this is the last thing she needs. Disgraceful way to treat staff and students after the quakes.

Support our staff. They have stayed with us through the worst of it. Don't kick them out now.

The law school is the heart of UC. We have been through enough already without them messing with our degree integrity. Leave it alone!
