100 percent of sports productions under NABET agreements are done by permalancers. Who at ESPN, over 3,000 of you, voted to belong to a local in New York that has fewer than 200 employees. When do we ever get to participate in union negotiations, who has ever gotten an contract ratification ballot
At NBC who participated in Olympic contracts, in Ryder Cup Negotiations, President Cup Negotiations, none of us. Why haven't we had a raise to work theOlympics in 20 years.
How does a subcontractor called Ming productions hire utilities at ESPN at half the NABET rates? Why isn't the contract enforced? Why do we pay dues at ESPN for a twenty year contract that offers no cost of living raise or adjustments to lieu of benefits.
We declare, the committee to make NABET and the companies who use them, stop representing the companies interest and represent workers.! Ask yourself this and ask others, who signed our rights away with a twenty year desk at ESPN without our consent?
We want medical, retirement, cost of living wages, in short we demand a real union!
Sign this petition which will go to the National Labor Relations Board, demanding that NABET has failed to represent it's members and should be removed as our bargaining agent!

I am specifically concerned regarding Travel Perma-lancer position going away due to too few hours. (when I have more hours than last year.) Asked to hold and reserve 14 weeks for CFB and being dropped after 4 weeks, having turned down 3 golf gigs and a soccer game. The fact that I am beholden to ESPN for my insurance to be payed and therefore HAVE to work for them 2 days per week to pay out of my paycheck. Love the work, just want some answers.
How can we have a union where we have ZERO voice?!? Shouldn't those that do the work have a voice???
This is long over due. A union and local created by the company has never provided legal representation for non-staff workers, especially since this workplace has transitioned almost fully to nonstaff freelancers. NABET's two-tiered system goes against a union's fiduciary duty to represent ALL equally, and has lead to a take-it-or-leave-it proposition for freelancers against multi-national corporations despite supposed representation. Freelancers have had work terms forced on them if they wanted to work and a union more concerned with representing staff employees and simply siphoning dues off Freelance labor. Long over due indeed.
NABET was invented by NBC as a way to avoid being unionized by IBEW. NABET keeps giving back to the Employers and does not represent the best interests of the workers. It's about damn time.
About time! Let's sign and make them merge with a real union or disspear because they aren't helping us. IATSE and IBEW go forward but NABET sells us out just to stay alive! Hey Charlie Braico ,our president, I don't want t another give back so you can keep your fat cat job!
All they do is make bad deals and steal our money!

We need to include everyone working on a crew. It only strengthens the voting base, runners, utilities, operations ...everyone should have to ability to get healthcare, cost of living increases, etc...
