Hello fellow Elon students. Remember when the Great Hall (Glo Co, Global Commons) was a peaceful, quiet, and relaxing place to work? Well, I don't. At one point in time, the Great Hall was a great alternative to the library, where students could work both independently and productively in SILENCE. In the last month, Elon has taken away the beauty of the Great Hall by tainting it with distracting and unwanted music. Many Elon students have actively fought to stop the music in the Great Hall but were unjustifiably shut down.
We need to come together as a community to STOP THE MUSIC IN THE GREAT HALL!

The administration thinks we will just accept this constant noise in the Global Commons. We are nearly at two hundred fifty signatures and we need to hit that mark immediately so they understand we are not going away quietly.

Please bring back the silence. People can put in their headphones if they want to listen to music. However, losing that freedom with this forced background noise completely ruins the point of the great hall.
Thanks God this is happening. I am a resident of the Global neighborhood hunting for other places to study because of that noise they introduce into the Great Hall. I understand that Great Hall was not intended to be a quiet place for studying but we, the students, use for that purpose. I think academic is prioritized over everything else at Elon. PLEASE, STOP THIS MUSIC IN THE GREAT HALL.
I feel like I am in an elevator. I've never done my homework in an elevator and I don't want to now.
I really miss the silence of the great hall. With the music I am unable to focus, and nothing has changed- everyone still goes in there to work silently. The argument for music is that the great hall was intended to be a 'gathering space', but anywhere on this college campus can be a gathering space. We have so few areas of silent study, this should remain as one of them.
this is my favorite place to study and the music is distracting. It is the end of the year and I find myself having to find a new productive study space. This is affecting my grades and I know I don't stand alone
Elon stop being selfish to look nice and maybe ask what the students want for once
I will not leave this university in this state of disgrace. STOP THE MUSIC FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY
