Dear students of Westside Highschool the handbook council has taken away our headphones. This means no music while working. We as students who have a voice need to come together and bring them back.

I do agree, blocking songs on our Chromebooks—even the clean ones is messed up let us have privlages.
Earbuds really help me to focus during Independent work. I feel like there should be a separation between using earbuds while working independently, and while a teacher is instructing. While, I understand that some students may like to take advantage of earbuds and use them while the teacher is doing his or her job, but I do not feel like we should all be punished because of those students. Especially, for those of us who use earbuds to focus. Personally, I like to use earbuds to tune out people or things that may distract me, like small sounds or I sometimes get overwhelmed when lots of people are talking and cannot focus on what I need too.
Music is a very helpful tool to keep me focused during independent work.
