Carlsbad: Stop Low Flying, Loud, and Unsafe planes from operating over our Homes and Neighborhoods

Too many low flying planes flying over our home. They are dangerous and noisy. This happens all hours of the day and night.

Planes are flying low and directly over our house causing us to close windows because we can’t even have a conversation on our own home without yelling. Sometimes it’s the same plane 4-5 times in one hour. I don’t mind living by an airport but the noise has increased dramatically in the last few years and even months. Planes should be flying out over the ocean not over our neighborhoods.

The planes cut over our home and are loud and continue in circles. Also low flying across Poinsettia and Aviara Parkway. We submit complaints.

Their whole, "The VNAPs are voluntary," response isn't always a voluntary measure for those who set up and make money off of flying out of our airports. County of San Diego Airport Rules and Regulations clearly defines that people operating businesses such as flight schools and flight clubs out of our airports must have a permit. Section 2.3 states that the noise abatement procedures must be followed. And that non-compliance with the terms of that document and the minimum standards document (that point at all FAA rules including minimum altitude) are a breach of contract. Which means that our county have the power to revoke pull the permits of those who are in breach of contract. When they shrug at these new made up flight paths that blast residents like an army of excessively loud flying lawnmowers, they are also in violation of county documentation that states that a new flight path requires an environmental impact review. We need to reward the good pilots out there that do the right thing and kick the pilots out that purposefully go out of their way to be a nuisance over residential neighborhoods. And before anyone says that you can't restrict pilots according to the FAA. Well, we wouldn't be putting a blanket restriction. They can find a place outside of our county and still conduct their business elsewhere. That might also do them a favor because they can find a non-populated area to enjoy their low flying training which would be inline with the FAA requirements for such.

Airplanes and helecopters continue to fly directly over my house at unsafe rates and heights at all hours of the day and night.

I hear low flying planes after I go to sleep at night. Quite frequently, I am awakened by these lower flying aircraft. I start work at 6:00 AM, so I have to wake up early.

The situation has become worse! Planes should not fly so low over our neighborhoods!

The noise and pollution have increased at least 10 fold over the last 20 years. Please help.

The traffic has gotten intolerable between new low flying large jets and flight school training over our homes in particular on Fridays into the late evening.

I live in the Cove in Carlsbad. The noise pollution is increasing tremendously with both helicopters and planes flying at low altitude over our houses at all hours. I lived in Point Loma under the planes. This is not good for the residents and homeowners of Carlsbad.

Please enforce the VNAP.

Once again, the continuous small multi-plane flyovers over our home and neighborhood HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE AGAIN ALL DAY TODAY (Sunday)...AND THEY WERE VERY BAD YESTERDAY TOO (Saturday)...THEY HAVE BECOME VERY BAD EVERY DAY NOW...MULTIPLE CONTINUOUS LOUD LOW WHINING PISTON-PROP PLANES flying continuous unabated back to back to back LOUD, LOW flyovers. PLEASE STOP these INCONSIDERATE PILOTS from flying BACK to BACK continuous touch-and-go patterns over our home and residential neighborhood RIGHT AWAY! These pilots must fly to the coast, and attain a proper altitude, before hard turning...and then avoid all residential neighborhoods. AGAIN, the airport personnel MUST please CONTINUOUSLY and PROACTIVELY address these horrible significant negative environmental impacts on a daily basis, that are being caused by the airport's deficient operational procedures, and lack of proper on-going management oversight and supervision...or these significant negative impacts will never cease. The airport must also do its part to assist everyone at home during the continuing virus pandemic on an on-going daily basis during the entire week...ON WEEKENDS TOO...whenever any aircraft are flying and NOT COMPLYING with the airport's voluntary noise abatement programs and noise compliance agreements. Thank you very much.

As low as 600 feet over our home, outside of the 3NM radius of the airport, in areas deemed noise sensitive by the county, not flying quietly over roadways (over homes instead), and not following the VNAPs. Flying that low is a violation of the FAA minimum altitude and generates noise in excess of what the FAA deems acceptable (and that's in our home with our windows shut). Most of the offenders are flight schools. Not just Palomar flight schools but I've spotted flight schools as far as Santa Barbara, NV, Los Angeles, Inland Empire and all over San Diego county doing this over my home. What kind of flight school/instructors teaches students to ignore FAA regulations and airport procedures?! How do they still have a permit to operate in our county and permission to use our airports with the county knowing that this is happening? Stop making the public make it a full time job to report this. Also make the county share the Webtrak data with the FAA. Our local FSDO office confirmed that the county owns that data and it isn't automatically shared with the FAA for investigation when the public reports it. We have to file a separate report to [email protected] which isn't published on any of the county airports' websites.

The planes have gotten extremely low and are constantly flying low over poinsettia heights. Lower than ever and wherever they like.

I purchased a home at Palomar estates West,I am on the direct flight path.No one disclosed this. It's scary planes fly entirely to low.The noise is a problem it sounds like they are going to hit our homes.I feel the planes are flying much lower in the last 3 months.Thank you

Sat on bench at Veterans Park and watched the flight paths for only a few minutes and saw a couple of planes cutting canyons heading NNE 60 degrees ending up right over my house on Shelley Place.

We have lived in our house for over 20 years. The NON STOP fly byes over the past few years have gotten out of control. Why this airport isn’t regulated and left to the honor system is ridiculous. And to add to our frustration, an expansion is trying to be bulldozed through the system even though we were all promised there would never be enough space...so not to worry. It is time to start thinking about our residents and not greed.
