Carlsbad: Stop Low Flying, Loud, and Unsafe planes from operating over our Homes and Neighborhoods

Their flight patterns are a safety risk to Carlsbad residents. Additionally, the flights add excess noise for residents, many of whom are working from home or attending online class due to COVID-19. All residents are asking is for pilots to take the extra 2 minutes (if even that much) to fly out to the ocean and then turn.

Sick and tired of the airport stating on their website that they are open 24/7. Planes come in to land at any time they wish. Usually back to back around 11pm and 2am in the morning. Also fed up with the old planes that just joy ride really low and ruin your peace and quiet. Are these planes even checked for safety? Overall, the airport is a menace for safety, air quality and noise with disrespectful for anyone living around it. It needs to be closed! Or they can contribute to everyones loss of property values!

Doesn't take much for the pilots to go straight out to ocean then make their turn, as suggested by the noise abatement plan.

These planes are loud!! And unsafe for families and businesses if they are flying below the FAA safe airspace.

In particular, jet pilots are requested to fly over San Marcos at 2000 feet but they continue to stay between 1200 and 1500. Some noisier than others. At those levels, they are actually below 1000 feet AGL. This would be just east of the 3 mile airport approach line.

I've grown very tired of the constant flyovers of aircraft over my home in Mariners Point. Its been steadily getting worse over the past 18-24 months. It is loud enough to disrupt my home office activities and the many daily virtual meetings that I am attending for my job with Qualcomm. It's actually just as disruptive as being near Miramar in my Qualcomm office. the aircraft noise starts promptly around 630 am and goes through at least 9pm and occasionally later past midnight. I do want to go on record that it's not just noisy and annoying, it creates air pollution and soot for the entire local environment, is dangerous to the homes and schools under the various low flying flight paths over many residential neighborhoods, and will eventually begin to degrade the property values of a large area of very expensive homes. Furthermore, the airport expansion is an unacceptable solution to the county's problems with Lindbergh Field congestion as the citizens of south Carlsbad will take a large hit to their home values as well as an erosion of our quality of life which was exceptional until the frequent flyovers began. I live right at the border to Carlsbad in Vista and the flight traffic has increased a lot and the noise of some airplanes is making it impossible to hold a conversation - inside and outside.

The airport expansion plan was not disclosed to me when I bought my house in Carlsbad in 2018; at that time I was aware of the number of flights out of Carlsbad airport and the noise generated by them as I have worked on Rutherford Rd quite near the runway since 2016. Since 2018, but particularly lately, there has been a marked increase in the number and loudness of the planes flying over my property as they approach the airport from the Calaveras Hills area (I live in Summerhouse, Calavera Hills II) They are supposed to approach the airport more from the East at higher altitudes, not buzz the houses in Carlsbad.

The noise has become a real problem for us... especially the ‘school’! They fly over our homes and circling continually, often forcing us to go indoors to hold a conversation. Also, the ‘all hours’ take off in the past 20 yrs has increased to an unacceptable level. Please help to get these issues under control. Thank you.

The noise from the low flying aircraft is getting worse. It is impossible to carry on a conversation when they fly over. When we moved here 15 years ago, all flights were to fly out over Palomar Airport Rd which significantly reduced noise.

No runway expansion for bigger planes! Limit hours for flight training!

ENORMOUS increase in the number of low-flying helicopters in the Aviara district as well.

Please help regulate the noise from the planes. Sometimes they fly pretty close and feels like they are going to land on my roof.

It’s crazy how low they fly. I suspect a lot of these are people in training which is even more frightening that they ignore the proper route and fly straight over neighborhoods

Airport should place signs inside rental/training sites reminding users that they should abide by the Voluntary Noise Abatement Procedures.
