The MP has officially scrapped the plans for the renaming. This result belongs entirely to the 246 of you who spoke up to honor Mollie properly. I am just happy we preserved her memory in a way that actually respects her life.
Local MP wants to rename Dirtpot Corner, a notorious traffic accident blackspot after a well loved local resident, Mollie McIntosh MBE, who passed away recently. Mollie was well known and well loved throughout the local community and deserves a more fitting tribute, rather than a notorious accident blackspot in her memory.
I have been hearing from so many of you who agree that Mollie deserves a tribute that reflects her life rather than her proximity to a dangerous road. It is truly your stories and your memories of her that keep this moving forward.

She wasnt the only person who campained for an improvement to the road, many people voiced their concern over many, many years. It was bound to happen at some point. Seems a bit daft to single her out and not a fitting memorial anyway.

Actually a disrespectful idea, much better to rename Walkerburn Village Hall after her or something in actual WALKERBURN, not a grim bend in the main road - it’s laughable, it really is.

I knew Mollie well naming this black spot after her is a disgrace, I’m sure if she was still around she would have something to say at about it. A memorial in Walkerburn or the cycle path after her anything but a accident blackspot.

Molly would be better remembered if you named the cycle path to innerleithen after her not some accident black spot

Not appropriate to use Mollies name here at all. Not fitting & not nice, this will ALWAYS be known as dirtpot corner. Give the lady the appropriate fitting tribute she deserves & not like this. What an insult to her. She deserves better. Shame. Will always be known to/by locals as Dirtpot Corner.

"Mollie's Corner" makes me think someone called Mollie died there! Walkerburn public hall being renamed would be far more appropriate!!
